Boss reveals Hatters have suffered injury issues in training this week

Rob Edwards admitted there are likely to be changes to his side for Saturday’s game with Swansea after losing a couple of players through injury in training.

“We’ve lost a couple throughout the week, it’s really disappointing and they’re freakish ones,” the manager said at his pre-match press conference on Friday.

“But we’re used to it, we had it last season. We’re alright, though, we’ll be competitive, we’ll be fine, it’s just we’ve lost a couple more.

“There won’t be radical or wholesale changes, but we’ll be forced into one or two and there might be some others too.”

Edwards did not reveal who will miss out against the Swans but the boss confirmed that Reece Burke and Liam Walsh will not be fit for the weekend’s game at Kenilworth Road.

“Burkey’s probably a couple of weeks away, unfortunately,” said Edwards. “Walshy was outside today [Friday] but won’t be available yet.”

The pair join Reuell Walters and Alfie Doughty on the Town’s injury list.

After losing at Norwich last weekend, the manager believes the Town can bounce back to form – if adding the kind of consistency that has seen them win their last two home games.

“We had a good meeting at the start of the week,” said the boss. “I backed up what I said, that there are a few things we need to improve, but we can also take some of the good things from Norwich and take it forward because there were some good things.

“The week’s gone well overall – apart from losing a couple of players – but we’re looking forward to it – we’ve been good at home and we’ll try and make it difficult for Swansea.

“We’ve got two home games in quick succession and we need to build on them. Of course you want to win your home games and we want to keep that going.

“The support at home has been amazing but I understand football: you’ve got to win games and get results – home and away – and that’s when people are happy.”
