The Town Under-18s continued their rich vein of form to beat Milton Keynes 6-1 in the Youth Alliance Cup on Saturday morning.
Joe Deeney’s side had a dream start inside two minutes when Tate Xavier-Jones headed home Benny Benagr’s corner at the near post.
However the lead would last 10 minutes as the visitors equalised when a wind-assisted effort flew past Charlie Booth.
Having been pegged back the Town youngsters found another gear and were 3-1 in front come half-time.
The lead was restored on 33 minutes when Dylan Stitt muscled his way through midfield to slide in Xavier-Jones to finish well for his second.
And four minutes before the interval, Archie Shepherd did well down the left to feed Stitt. His cut-back saw Xavier-Jones’ shot blocked but Jamie Odegah was on hand to bundle home from close range.
The Town then made it 4-1 six minutes into the second half when Charlie Trustram seized on a loose ball and drove goalwards before slipping in Xavier-Jones to complete his hat-trick with an emphatic finish from the edge of the box.
Three goals ahead the Hatters continued to look for more goals and a fifth arrived with seven minutes left when Odegah scored his second of the afternoon after receiving Harry Fox’s cross.
The scoring was complete in the 89th minute when Stitt found the net with a fantastic finish from 25 yards to make it 6-1.
After seeing off Northampton 6-0 the week before the Under-17 PDL Cup the result made it 12 goals in two games for the Town ahead of this Friday’s FA Youth Cup tie at Kenilworth Road against Crewe on Friday.
Kick-off is at 7pm and entry is £5 for adults and £3 for concessions, so why not get down to the Kenny to see the next generation of Town players in action?
