Rob's reaction to Lviv victory

Boss gives update on injuries to Town duo after friendly win

Town boss Rob Edwards confirmed Tahith Chong has recovered well after taking a nasty-looking knock in Tuesday’s friendly against Rukh Lviv in Slovenia.

The Hatters secured a 1-0 victory thanks to a goal from Carlton Morris in the first half before Chong was forced off in the early stages of the second period after colliding with a grassy bank behind the goal.

“He’s alright thank goodness,” said the manager afterwards. “It was an impact injury, their guy has gone over quick – he’s got a bang and some bruises but he’s walked away fine.”

Edwards had less good news, however, on Japanese international Daiki Hashioka, who was substituted late in the first half with a suspected calf injury.

“It’s a frustrating one,” said the boss. “He’s tweaked it and we’ll have to see over the next couple of days. I’m pleased with the performance but frustrated by Hashi’s situation.”

On the victory – the Hatters’ second in three pre-season fixtures so far – Edwards said: “It’s always nice to win. In the friendlies we’ve had we’ve had three good performances and three good first halves before we’ve changed things up in the second halves where you lose a bit of rhythm.

“We’ve dominated those periods and looked a threat and we’ll continue to work on that. We know we’ll have more control of the way we play, and press, keep the ball and create chances, get forward in numbers and take more risks.

“I saw a lot of good stuff against an athletic Ukrainian team who were aggressive and liked to press.

“The goal was pleasing – you can see the patterns we’ve been working on and it was a good example of that it. I think we looked a threat for large chunks of that first half. Our reactions were good when we lost the ball and overall I think we were excellent with the ball in tough, dry conditions.”
