Up into fourth position in the Sky Bet Championship following a midweek win over Cardiff City courtesy of Elijah Adebayo’s later winner, the Hatters are eyeing a sixth league victory in seven matches against the Potters in two days’ time.

“We’re pleased with the run of results we’ve been on,” Trollope said during his pre-match press conference. “We came into the club in a good place and we’re trying to move it on. We’re ambitious as a club, ambitious as a group of players and management staff but we also have a lot of respect for the division.

“We know how tight games are, we’ve got humility in the way we work and our energy, our attitude and our endeavour has to be spot on every week and so far it has been. We will just continue, it’s a cliché but taking it a game at a time and we have to make sure we hit the levels we know we can. We will try to keep improving as the season goes on and see where it takes us.”

After Cody Drameh made his debut for the club on Tuesday night, Trollope revealed the possibility of midfielder Marvelous Nakamba following suit after joining on Deadline Day.

“He is obviously a good level player, Premier League experience, you can see he’s fitted straight into the group. He’s a really good character which I think fits in with the group very well. It’s pretty obvious to see his game time over the last year, 18 months, was not what he wanted to be so we’re going to have to manage him well, but we’ve brought him here to add to that midfield unit.

“He’s a different type to what we’ve got which we think we needed to compliment the others and we feel it’s a really strong unit, so we’re delighted to have Marvelous, I think he’s going to add to us on and off the pitch.”

A further positive was his former Aston Villa team-mate Henri Lansbury is progressing well on the training pitch, as Trollope said: “He’s back to full training. He was integrated into part training last week and he’s shown his experience and quality since he’s been back.

“He’s trained for two or three days so that’s been a positive. Now, it’s case of progressing his work, topping up his fitness and hopefully we’ll see him in action before too long.”
