The Town's impressive return to action following the festive lay-off started with a 4-0 FA Cup third round win over Harrogate Town, then continuued with a dramatic 3-2 victory over table-toppers Bournemouth at Kenilworth Road.

A 2-0 win at Reading was followed by a defeat by the same scoreline at Sheffield United, but the Hatters bounced back immediately with a 2-1 win against Bristol City, then a goalless draw with second-placed Blackburn.

It is the Welshman's first MOTM nomination at Championship level, having completed a hat-trick of award wins in League Two and One during his first spell in charge.

He is in contention along with his compatriot, Steve Cooper of Nottingham Forest, Fulham's Marco Silva and QPR's Mark Warburton.

This is what the league sponsors had to say about the four contenders in the official announcement, with the winner due to be announced tomorrow morning...

Steve Cooper (Nottingham Forest)

Cooper has restored hope as well as attacking flair at the City Ground since his arrival in late September. January brought another three wins from four games as Forest climbed within reach of the promotion play-off positions.

Nathan Jones (Luton Town)

If any match encapsulated Luton’s continuing progress under Jones, it was their 3-2 win over Bournemouth, following up first-half dominance with the tenacity to score a late winner, which helped them garner 10 points from five games.

Marco Silva (Fulham)

Silva inspired a January for the ages at Craven Cottage as his swashbuckling side rattled in goals from every angle, 23 in five games, which featured seven at Reading and six against both Bristol City and Birmingham in a 13-point haul.

Mark Warburton (Queens Park Rangers)

With sides around them faltering, Warburton’s men narrowed the gap on the top three by collecting 13 points from five unbeaten games, conceding just two goals and scoring late winners against promotion rivals West Brom and Coventry.
