Matt Bloomfield will welcome back Carlton Morris to the Town squad for Sunday’s derby with Watford.
The striker missed Wednesday night’s 1-1 draw with Plymouth through illness but is back to face the Hornets with the Town aiming to end a run of 11 games without victory.
“He’s back on the grass and that’s a big plus for us,” said Bloomfield on the Town’s number nine. “He’s a big character, a leader and we were disappointed to lose him to close to kick-off on Wednesday.”
The Hatters boss revealed that he’s waiting on the fitness of Jordan Clark, Mark McGuinness and Shandon Baptiste – with the latter pair picking up knocks in the week.
“Clicker’s back out but not on the grass properly but we’ll wait and see for Sunday. It would be great to have him back as he’s one who’s been involved in the fixture before.
“Mark took a knock on Wednesday and we’ll see how well he recovers. He’s been great and adapted well to playing on the right side of a three. He carries an aerial threat and he’s another leader.
“Shandon finished the game on Wednesday but we’re not sure yet if he’ll make Sunday. He didn’t train today [Friday] but he’s positive, he knows he’s body. If he trains tomorrow he’ll be involved and if he doesn’t then he won’t.”
Bloomfield explained that Reece Burke continues to make good progress in his return to fitness but Tahith Chong is a bit further behind.
The boss also revealed Hashi Hashioka has a slight knee niggle and is also doubtful for Sunday’s trip to Vicarage Road.
