Carlton Morris praised the Hatters’ dressing room spirit after the 3-1 win over Bristol City – then called for the fans to keep giving the lads their “second wind” when Coventry come to town on Saturday.
Our captain was on target, along with January signings Thelo Aasgaard and Izzy Jones, as the Hatters made it back-to-back wins for the first time since September.
“It’s bouncing in there,” said the 29-year-old. “Even in the season when we’ve been at our lowest point, the changing room has never turned on each other, it’s never been toxic. I think that’s credit to the lads because it’s so easy to start blaming each other, when you are going around, and rightfully so we’re getting a lot of stick at some points of the season when it wasn’t going the best.
“I’ve been in positions before where people have turned on each other and it’s created that negative environment, but that’s never happened, so credit to the boys, they are enjoying it now off back-to-back wins, we’ve hit a bit of form at the minute and long may it continue.”
Morris’ goal was his eighth of the season, and first in 2025, and he went on: “It's been a while and it’s tough obviously when you’re in that position as a striker and the ball is just not dropping.
“I’m going front post and it’s going back post. I’m going back post and the ball’s going front post. That’s life, and you can see I’ve been giving it my all anyway.
“I’ve been giving everything I can to contribute to the team being as successful as possible, but it was nice to get on the scoresheet. The main thing though was that we got the three points.”
Looking ahead to play-off hopefuls Coventry’s visit to Kenilworth Road for Saturday’s 12.30pm kick-off, Morris said: “I think you can expect that fire.
“The gaffer and Thommo have been brilliant in drilling us all week to find some kinks in their armour, and if we come out and perform like that, nine times out of ten we are going to go and win the game.
“At times this season that hasn’t come to fruition, where we’ve had some crazily good performances here and not taken the points. But thankfully I think that is starting to turn now, so hopefully we can keep riding this wave over the last two games.”
And asked about how important the Kenny faithful can be, he replied: “Definitely, the crowd noise when the chances go in and we are building momentum in the individual minutes of the game, you never realise how much that gives the lads the second wind, so it’s crucial.”
