Mick Harford became the latest Hatters legend to be honoured by the Football Association at the recent international against Serbia, when he was presented with his England legacy cap.
Our current senior scout and club ambassador was invited to Wembley by the FA, having been unable to attend a month earlier alongside his former team-mates Ricky Hill and Brian Stein and the family of Frank Soo, due to a prior commitment raising funds for Prostate Cancer UK with a golf day.
Big Mick received his cap at a ceremony alongside his former Wimbledon team-mate Warren Barton, ex-Tottenham players Graham Roberts and Paul Stewart, former Arsenal full-back Kenny Sansom and the families of the late Cyrille Regis and David Rocastle.
The first of Mick’s two England caps came in a goalless draw in Israel in February 1988, with his second arriving seven months later in a 1-0 friendly win over Denmark at Wembley.
Like with Ricky and Brian, Mick won his caps under the management of Sir Bobby Robson while playing his trade at Kenilworth Road, where he scored 92 goals in 217 matches across two spells.
His England legacy number is 1,002.
As with Frank, Ricky and Brian, everyone connected with Luton Town is so proud to see Mick honoured by the FA for playing for his country. Congratulations, Mick!
