Rob Edwards’ side claimed a famous victory when we dominated Brighton & Hove Albion with a 4-0 win at Kenilworth Road on Tuesday night.
Eddie Howe’s Magpies got back to winning ways in the Premier League after four defeats in a row with an impressive victory at Aston Villa.
The opposition
Newcastle drifted further away from the top four during December and January, losing six of their last eight Premier League games, including one at Kenilworth Road.
The Toon Army now sits eighth in the table, but a positive win at Villa Park in midweek to back up their FA Cup victories at Fulham and local rivals Sunderland could see a turn in form for Howe’s men.
Anthony Gordon has been involved in seven goals in his last seven Premier League home games for Newcastle, scoring five and assisting two.
This is the first time Newcastle are hosting Luton in a league match since September 1992, and the Hatters’ first visit to St James’ Park since our FA Cup third round tie in January 2018.

Teden Mengi, Jacob Brown and Issa Kaboré will all be back available for selection at St James’ Park.
Kaboré’s Burkina Faso fell to defeat in the Africa Cup of Nations Round of 16, while Mengi and Brown have fully recovered from minor injury issues which left them out of the Brighton game.
New signing Daiki Hashioka will be travelling to Newcastle but is unlikely to feature as he settles in at his new club.
Mads Andersen, Marvelous Nakamba and Tom Lockyer remain unavailable.
