Luton Town Ladies are back in action this Sunday when they host London City Lionesses Academy.

The Hatters were without a game last weekend, with scheduled opponents AFC Sudbury competing in a rearranged WNL Cup fixture.

During the week the Town announced the arrival of young QPR forward Natalia Makowska. Makowska joined the Hoops in March 2025 having previously impressed at Chesham United, where she played alongside current Hatters Sasha Smith and Kiyana Fryer.

The opposition

The young London City Lionesses side progressed to the Women’s National League Plate after finishing third in Group G of the WNL Cup Group Stage.

They led 3-2 at half-time in the group stage opener against Chatham Town but went onto lose the fixture 6-4.

The second group stage game also ended in defeat for the Lionesses, who were defeated 2-0 by AFC Sudbury.

However, it was third time lucky for the young side with their group stage concluding in a 1-0 victory over tier-three Billericay Town securing their place in the WNL Plate.

From the camp

Boss Myles Maddix: “We want to progress on in all competitions, London City Lionesses are going to be a young team but in football you can’t take anyone for granted, we will need to make sure we come out here and do the job and that’s what we will prepare for.

“We’ll approach it how we need to, we’ll respect the opposition but also we need to progress, so that is the aim.”

Captain Leyah Maddix: “We won’t take anything for granted, from the first minute to the 90t. We will work as hard as possible, we will push them and get a good result from it.”

Back the Town at Barton

The Ladies are back in action at Barton for the first time since a 2-1 victory over Milton Keynes Women at the beginning of September – and they need your support as they aim to advance to the second round of the WNL Plate.

Kick-off at Barton Rovers’ Sharpenhoe Road ground is at 2pm. Tickets are available on the day. Payment is via cash on the turnstile with prices adults for £5 and children £1.
