It is Hertfordshire vs Bedfordshire in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup this Sunday as Luton Town Ladies take on Stevenage in the second round.
Our Ladies ran riot last Sunday with a huge 7-1 victory over Haringey Borough, with Amber Leighton’s hat-trick being the highlight.
Stevenage also had a successful Sunday, defeating Harpenden Town 2-1 to progress to the next round of the Hertfordshire County Cup.
The opposition
Stevenage are a fellow ERWFL Premier Division side, they currently sit fourth in the league table, losing only two of their nine league fixtures so far.
The Boro have been in fine form as of late, after four wins and five draws in their previous nine matches across all competitions.
David Perry’s side have scored 42 goals across 14 games in all competitions this season, only failing to score once, which was against the Hatters in their first league defeat of the season.
The FA Cup journey so far…
Luton Town Ladies will look to reach the third round of the FA Cup in back-to-back seasons, whereas the Boro will look to redeem themselves after failing to reach the first round proper last season at the hands of Real Bedford.
The Hatters’ 24/25 FA Cup campaign started with an emphatic 11-0 away victory against Chigwell in the second round qualifying.
St Albans City visited Sharpenhoe Road in the third qualifying round and the Ladies came out 2-0 victors to progress to the Adobe Women’s FA Cup first round proper.
It looked desperate for the Ladies when they went 2-0 behind against Hutton Women, before an impressive 4-2 turnaround put us in the hat for the second round.
Stevenage’s 24/25 FA Cup campaign also started off with an emphatic away victory, defeating Chelmsford City 5-0 in the second round qualifying.
The Boro defeated Cambridge City 4-2 on penalties after the sides played out a 2-2 draw to progress to their first round proper tie at Barking Women, which saw a 2-1 win for the visitors.
Last time out
The last meeting between the two sides took place at the end of August and was Luton Town Ladies’ first home fixture of the season.
The Hatters claimed their first three points of the season after Hatters debutant Chloe Martin scored the decisive goal, slotting the ball into the back of the net after being played in behind one-on-one.
