Ladies secure sixth win in a row

Two first-half goals were enough for the Town Ladies against Bowers & Pitsea

Luton Town Ladies made it six wins from six in 2025 after a 2-0 away victory over Bowers & Pitsea on Sunday afternoon.

Bowers, under newly appointed manager Dean Perrett, kept the Hatters at bay for the opening 10 minutes, limiting them to just one shot, which came from Gabriella Spillman and was held by the Bowers keeper.

But in the 11th minute Shanice Lewis gave Luton the lead. Amber Leighton rolled the ball into the feet of the forward who cut onto her right foot and curled the ball into the top right corner.

Leighton then came close to scoring herself, although her effort went narrowly over the crossbar.

Then, on 23 minutes, Lewis scored again. Shianne Swarres played a spectacular ball with the outside of her boot to send Lewis through on goal and she composed herself in front of goal to slot the ball underneath the keeper.

Just after the restart in the second half, Lewis came close to netting her hat-trick. Some good pressing allowed her to snatch the ball off the defender but her shot was well saved.

Leighton was unlucky not to create another goal when she played Jess McKay through on goal but her effort was dragged just wide of the post.

With 15 minutes left, Bowers came close to pulling one back. They took the ball around Sarah Hudson but a great piece of defending from Nicole Farmer prevented Bowers from putting the ball into an empty net.

The Hatters held onto their two-goal lead despite pressure from Bowers in the second half to further close the gap on league leaders Royston Town.

Up next is a League Cup semi-final against Royston.

Town: Hudson, Wade, Farmer, Mulvaney, Maddix, Tucker, Leighton, Swarres, Spillan, Leander, Lewis.

Subs: McKay, Blacksley, Fensome.
