Luton Town Ladies return to league action at Sharpenhoe Road when they host Watford on Sunday.

Last weekend saw the Hatters secure their eighth successive victory with a hard-fought 3-0 win away at bottom side Cambridge City.

In their last home fixture the Town booked their place in the League Cup Final following a 3-1 victory over Royston Town Women after extra-time. The extra-time period saw Fiona Buttigieg score directly from a corner in the 115th minute before Tsaianne Leander added a third in the final minute.

The opposition

Watford Ladies were promoted into the ERWFL Premier Division after a successful 2023/24 campaign where they racked up 42 points, losing just two of their 18 league fixtures.

The Hornets are currently five points clear of the relegation zone with a game in hand.

They have struggled as of late, losing eight of their last nine games – a run which was kick-started by a 1-0 defeat against the Hatters back in January.

Last time out

Last time out saw the Hatters topple the Hornets 1-0 with Jess McKay scoring the winner. This was a significant victory for the Town as it saw them progress into the League Cup fourth round where they have since reached the final, where they’ll face Stevenage.

This was the Hatters’ first game of the calendar year and set them off on an impressive eight game winning streak, which they’ll hope to extend to nine when Watford make the trip to Barton.

Big backing at Barton needed

Our home fixture against Royston almost a fortnight ago saw the highest attendance of the campaign so far and the Town need your support again this weekend.

One half of co-managerial duo, Myles Maddix said: “Support is key. We really want everyone to come down to Barton and watch us do what we do. If you’re free please come down to Barton and show your support, because we need it.”

Leyah Maddix, sister of Myles, has also called for Hatters fans to come down and back the team: “If we get as much of a crowd as what we did against Royston, it’ll be really nice to see. It gives us the extra boost, it motivates us more and as they say, your home crowd is your 12th man.”

Kick-off at Barton Rovers Football club is 2pm this Sunday. Season card holders can gain free admisison at Barton. General admission is cash only at the turnstiles: £5 adults and £1 children.
