*SUNDAY UPDATE
GAME OFF - After a pitch inspection our League Cup game against Watford Ladies Development has been called off, due to an unplayable pitch. Reschedule details to follow in the new year.
Luton Town Ladies travel to Bovingdon to take on Watford Ladies Development on Sunday.
Another memorable FA Cup campaign for Luton Town Ladies concluded last Sunday after a 5-0 defeat at the hands of Championship side, Portsmouth Women. The Hatters will look to bounce back from what was just their second defeat of the season.
The opposition
The Hornets play in the same league as the Hatters, currently positioned in seventh place, five points above the relegation zone.
After nine games played in the league, they have won four and drawn two, scoring 15 goals.
Watford Ladies Development earned promotion into the ERWFL Premier Division after a successful 23/24 season, where they won 13 of their 18 league games, racking up 42 points and finishing with a +35 goal difference, 24 more superior than Southend Women, who finished second.
The hosts are on a three-game winning streak, keeping a clean sheet in all three. The run started in the last round of the League Cup, defeating Southend Women 5-0, then a 1-0 away win over Cambridge City Ladies and most recently a comfortable 3-0 victory over St Albans.
Our last League Cup tie
In the second round of the League Cup, we defeated Hertford Town Women 5-0 with Gabriella Spillman, Tasha Fensome, Cesca Partridge and Shianne Swarres all getting on the scoresheet.
Spillman opened the scoring five minutes in, with a powerful finish into the roof of the net.
Swarres then doubled the lead, Buttigieg’s corner was met by the head of the midfielder to give the Hatters a 2-0 lead.
Fensome’s lobbed the keeper for the third of the game, after some smart linkup play between Partridge and Leighton.
Partridge’s deflected effort gave the Hatters a comfortable 4-0 lead on the hour mark, before Fensome rounded the scoring off, after she curled the ball past the keeper to make it 5.
