The Town Ladies face St Albans at Clarence Park knowing that three points will see them crowned ERWFL Premier Division champions and promoted to the fourth-tier of women’s football.

Sunday was a huge day in terms of the title race. Royston Town dropped points for a third game in a row when they lost 2-0 to Stevenage, whereas the Hatters picked up all three points at Barton in a 3-0 victory over Bowers & Pitsea which puts them in pole position to lift the trophy and see themselves promoted to the Women’s National League Division One South East.

The opposition

The Saints suffered defeat on Sunday at Clarence Park in a 3-0 defeat against lowly Cambridge City.

Tuesday night’s clash is St Albans’ last fixture of the season and the Saints will be looking to end it on a high after failing to win in any of their previous five games.

St Albans are sixth in the table and would break the 30-point barrier should they pick up three points.

Last time out

The last meeting between the two sides was only two weeks ago when the Hatters conquered the Saints in an emphatic 4-0 victory at Barton.

Jess McKay finished off a Tasha Fensome pass after 25 minutes to give the Hatters the lead before Fensome was involved again for the second when her perfectly-timed sliding challenge set up Ami Martins for a tap-in.

On the hour, Fensome scored Luton’s third after an unselfish lay-off from McKay. Tsaianne Leander rounded off the scoring late on after being played one-on-one by Fensome.

Pre-match chat

Joint-boss Myles Maddix said: “We’re now in a good position to go on and win the league, but it doesn’t have to be won on Tuesday. We’ve got three opportunities.

“While it might seem like there is pressure to get it done early, for us we’ll be looking at the performance.”

Back the Town in Hertfordshire

The Hatters need big away support as they look to claim promotion to the fourth-tier of English Women’s football, so get down to Clarence Park to support the team.

Kick-off at Clarence Park is at 7.45pm.

Good luck to you all!
