Late goals from Tasha Fensome, Jess McKay and debutant Ami Martins earned the Town Ladies another victory in a 3-2 win over Wroxham on Sunday.
After two minutes of play, Wroxham took an early lead. Hannah Fuller capitalised on a Luton defensive mix up and slotted the ball past Sarah Hudson.
The Hatters then levelled the scoring in the 20th minute. Fensome was played through on goal and, from the edge of the area, fired the ball past the keeper and into the back of the net.
No sooner were Luton level, they found themselves behind again. Rebecca Russell’s header from a corner cannoned off the crossbar and into the back of Hudson’s net.
It was another swift reply from the Hatters when Jess McKay drew the Town level with half-an-hour played. Shanice Lewis fired the ball into the box and towards McKay who was centred perfectly to tap the ball home.
Neither side had a real sight of goal in the opening exchanges of the second half. McKay came closest with 63 on the clock, but her effort was comfortably saved by the Wroxham keeper.
But with 20 minutes to play, just 15 minutes into her Luton debut, Martins fired the Hatters into the lead. Martins picked up the ball in the centre of the box and her powerful effort, despite a touch from the keeper, found the back of the net.
In the third minute of additional time at the end of the 90, McKay was inches away from wrapping the game up for Luton. Her effort crashed off the inside of the post and Wroxham were able to clear.
The victory ensures the Hatters stay hot on the heels of leaders Royston who they trail by seven points with three games in hand.
