Ladies aiming for top spot on Wednesday

Town can reach the summit with three points against St Albans at Barton

The Hatters Ladies will have the opportunity to climb to the top of the table on Wednesday as they aim to make it 16 league wins on the spin when St Albans City visit Barton.

On Sunday the Town emphatically defeated Enfield 5-1 away from home, narrowing the gap down to one point behind league leaders Royston Town.

Three points against the Saints would put the Town on top of the ERWFL Premier Division for the first time this since.

The Hatters need four wins in their remaining six games to guarantee promotion to the Women’s National League Division One South East.

The opposition

The Hatters must stay grounded and take each game as it comes, starting with a tough test against St Albans.

The Saints are currently fifth in the league table, winning eight and drawing three of their 19 games in the league.

Matt Pring’s side picked up a hard-fought point against the high-flying Stevenage on Sunday, drawing 2-2, despite taking a 2-0 lead into half-time at Clarence Park.

St Albans have struggled on the road in 2025. A 1-0 victory over bottom place Cambridge City is their only win in six fixtures this calendar year.

Last time out

The last meeting between the two sides, saw the Town progress to the first round proper of the Adobe Women’s FA Cup in a 2-0 victory at Barton.

Second-half goals from Tasha Fensome and Gabriella Spillman on the day was enough to see the Hatters through to the next round.

Back the Town at Barton

The Ladies need your support this Wednesday evening as they look to take a step closer to promotion. Kick-off at Barton Rovers’ Sharpenhoe Road ground is at 7.45PM.
