Ladies aim for 15 in a row at Enfield

Hatters looking to maintain title charge on Sunday

Luton Town Ladies celebrate in the FA Cup first round win at Hutton Women

Luton Town Ladies secured their 14th successive league victory last Sunday with a 4-0 away win over Wroxham – this time around, they face a tough test away at Enfield as they go in the hunt of the league title.

The opposition

Enfield, nicknamed the Towners, are the first fully fan-owned club in the country. The ladies side were formed back in 1985. In 2003 they formed official links with the men’s team and were renamed Enfield Town Ladies.

Last time out, Enfield gave the Hatters a tough game at Barton. With the score at 0-0, the 77th minute saw a moment of misfortune from the away side. Enfield’s attempt to play out the back led to a defensive error, a mis-hit pass saw the ball bounce up and strike an Enfield defender’s hand in the area, gifting the Town a penalty which Tasha Fensome converted.

Enfield have won five of their nine home games in the league this season and have scored 19 goals in this time.

Last Sunday saw victory for the Towners at the Dave Bryant Stadium as they defeated relegation-threatened Cambridge City.

Pre-match chat

Co-managerial duo, Myles Maddix and Fadi Mazloum previewed Sunday’s tie: “They have pace and aggression throughout their team, so we know how they set up, we know what we’re up against and we know how good Enfield can be on their day.”

Player of the match from the Wroxham game, Erin Price, also gave her thoughts: “Another week of hard work, we know our game plan and we’ll go play our game.”

Back the Town

Kick-off at Enfield Town’s Dave Bryant Stadium is at 2pm. The Ladies need your support as they attempt to secure their 15th successive league victory and take one step closer to promotion. The postcode for Sunday’s game is EN1 3PL.
