Hatters wideman Izzy Jones wants his team-mates to take the positives from the chances created against his former club Middlesbrough into the next Championship fixture at Hull.
The 25-year-old was named player of the match after posing a continual threat to his former colleagues down the Town’s right flank in an opening 45 minutes that Matt Bloomfield’s side dominated, before switching towards the end of the goalless draw.
The Hatters had 19 shots and six big chances, but couldn’t quite find the finishing touch to take all three points. Speaking to LTFC+, Jones said: “It was a good team performance. We were unlucky not to get the three points, but we can take many positives from the game and look forward to our next game after the international break.
“Once we came into the changing room, everyone was disappointed not to take the three points with the chances we created, but we can take the positives from the game and at least we were creating the chances, but just not putting it into the back of the net.
“We’ve got eight more games to go, so hopefully we can start scoring a lot of goals and stay up.”
The London-born Guyana international also found time to thank supporters for making him feel at home since his return south in January, when he made the switch from the Riverside to Bedfordshire.
“I feel right at home, since day one when I came, I’ve been made to feel welcome and the fans took me in, so the best thing I can do is repay them on the pitch. Luckily I did that today.”
He also insisted the atmosphere inside the Town dressing room is driven to making sure the recent run of good results, with seven points from the last 12 available, continues when he returns from international duty.
“One hundred per cent, there is a good mood,” he said. “Everyone is working hard, day in, day out, showing desire and passion, and once we step on that pitch, it’s war.
“All we wanted today was the three points. We were unlucky not to get it, we got one point, but let’s take the positives and move forward.”
