JAMES SHEA: "THERE IS ALWAYS POSITIVITY"

Hatters goalkeeper James Shea insisted the players will ‘let the dust settle and then go again’ after suffering a late defeat against Leeds United.

Town went down 2-1 to the Whites but performed well throughout the 90 minutes and would have been good value for a more positive result.

Shea played a vital role in the game as he produced a number of saves to keep Leeds at bay, but the 28-year-old insisted: “It doesn’t really matter, we still lost the game. All the saves are for nothing really in that sense. Don’t get me wrong, I’m over the moon to be playing at the minute week in, week out.

“It’s not just me, there’s other goalkeepers at the club that want to play – Sluga, Stech, Harry (Isted), we all want to play. Luckily I’m playing at the minute, so I’ve just got to keep working hard and hopefully stay in goal.”

The goalkeeper – who was named as the sponsors' man-of-the-match – didn’t hide the fact that everyone was ‘gutted’ after the final whistle, saying: “I do feel like we deserved to get at least a point, we had a great chance at the end and a few other chances like the goal that was disallowed for offside. Not just me, everyone in the changing room is absolutely gutted that we haven’t got a point.”

Every player worked extremely hard throughout the game and Shea credits that towards the training during the international break, elaborating by saying: “The performance was good today, we’ve had a lot of good training. Especially last week, we had a tough week fitness wise, every single day. The training has gone up untold at the minute. You can see it worked today, it’s just a shame we couldn’t hold on for three or four minutes.”

Town were keen to put things right after a disappointing display away at Reading before the international break, to which Shea added: “After the Reading game we knew we weren’t good enough that day and we knew we had to work harder.

"We probably came up against the best team in the league, Leeds, a physical team as well they run all day. We knew we had to work hard and we had a lot of work on the training pitch, and it did show today.

The Hatters suffered their fifth loss in a row, but Shea is full of confidence that the team will bounce back in the right way. “There’s always positivity,” the goalkeeper explained. “It’s a great group to be around and it will be positive on Monday. Right now it is just a bit gutting the way we’ve lost but come Monday, everyone will be positive again.”
