Town manager Jack Wilshere has called on his side to retain their attacking prowess at home against a stern Stevenage test at Kenilworth Road.
Giving his pre-match thoughts to local media ahead of the fixture, Wilshere outlined what sort of challenge he expects to face against Stevenage, saying: “The main thing is that we match their fight and their willingness, we know how difficult they are to break down.
"We’re starting to become the team that I want us to be where we have a lot of the ball, but we still need to have threat, especially against a Stevenage team that doesn’t concede a lot of chances and we need to make sure we keep the pressure on them.
“We need to find more consistency. We had two home games where we won 4-0 and 3-0, but then we go to Exeter and lose which knocks your rhythm a bit. It makes you realise that we have to keep doing the basics and fighting for those second balls.
"We know we lost to Stevenage last time out so we know we owe them one, and the players are aware of that.”
The gaffer also spoke on the recent addition of Manchester City winger Emilio Lawrence joining the Hatters for the remainder of the season, the Scotland Under-21 international experiencing his first loan in professional football, with Wilshere stating: “He’s a player that gives us something different in the final third, I have known about him for a few years and obviously being involved in academy football he’s someone I have kept my eye on.
“He can go on the inside and go on the outside; he comes from a club that I think develops players in the right way. This is his first loan, so he needs time, he needs to get used to us and understand the players he is playing with, but it is definitely an exciting one.
“Emilio can adapt. It is down to us as a club and us as coaches to help him adapt quickly and make him feel comfortable – obviously Luton is a little bit different to Man City, but I know some people from academy football who probably wouldn’t survive in this environment, but when we spoke to him and his family we could tell how hungry he is to succeed.”
