The Hatters were proud to pick up the Best Football League Club Gold award at the Football Content Awards 2024 held at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last week.
The Town media team were present to receive the award ahead of Watford, who came third, and Wrexham in second, while beating other shortlisted finalists including fellow Championship clubs Bristol City, Burnley, Derby County, Hull City, Norwich City and League One sides Exeter City, Shrewsbury Town and Stockport County.
Explaining why the Hatters were awarded gold, the Football Content Award judges said: "Luton Town FC has produced exceptional content during their journey from non-league football to the Premier League. Their behind-the-scenes series Unmasked and presenter-led Instagram stories offer fans a unique look at life inside the club, blending dynamic storytelling with fan interaction. Luton Town’s content has been a cornerstone of their remarkable rise and has set a high standard for clubs with modest resources."
The Hatters were also on the 15-strong shortlist for the Best in Social - Organisation, up against footballing juggernauts Manchester City and AC Milan, as well as massive media organisations including Mail Sport and The Athletic, who took gold with OneFootball and 433 the silver and bronze respectively.
In the reasons for shortlisting us, the organisers said: "Luton Town FC’s rise from non-league to Premier League football has been accompanied by equally impressive growth in digital content. The club’s social media strategies, which include behind-the-scenes access, fan-generated content, and cinematic storytelling, have resonated strongly with their supporters. Through innovative use of platforms like Instagram, Luton has fostered a close-knit community, demonstrating that even clubs with fewer resources can excel in the digital space."
More than a million votes were cast, and winners selected by an expert panel of over 60 judges at the 13th edition of the Football Content Awards, with other winners on the night including Kick It Out, Undr The Cosh, The Overlap, Sky Sports, Fabrizio Romano, She's A Baller, The Women's Football Podcast, the Beckham documentary, Southend United, Man City and Gary Neville.
