The Hatters have boosted their ranks of young attacking players with the deadline day signing of Taylan Harris from Reading.

The 18-year-old has been a regular for the Royals’ under-21 side this season and made a goalscoring senior debut for the Berkshire club in the EFL Trophy in September.

Hatters head of recruitment Mick Harford said: “Taylan is technically very good; he’s a winger or forward who’s very quick, has a real eye for goal and likes a shot from range.

“He’s also a good dribbler, who likes to beat players and make things happen. We’re looking forward to working with him and are excited to see how he develops.”

Harris said: “When you see Luton winning 4-0 and players scoring hat-tricks in the Premier League, it gives you a great feeling of what can come in the future so I’m delighted to be here and can’t wait to start.

“My aim is to play in the Premier League – every player in the world wants to do that. This has given me an opportunity to do that and achieve that.”

Harris made the step up to under-21s football this season despite only turning 18 in October.

He continued his rise when he was called into the Reading squad for their Carabao Cup tie against Ipswich Town.

Royals manager Rubén Sellés continued to offer the player first-team matchday experiences, and was again named on the bench for the EFL trophy clash away to Exeter City, scoring three minutes after his introduction.

Welcome to Kenilworth Road, Taylan!
