Hatters mark International Women's Day 2025

Ahead of International Women's Day 2025, we caught up with five members of our female football staff to share their experiences of working in the game.

The percentage of female staff at Luton Town has risen to 30 per cent, and this progress can be seen on first team and academy matchdays, where analyst Chloe Golding, sports therapy intern Kaylee Lay-Field and academy medical team Charlie Poynter, Paige Simms and Jayden Hay are blazing a trail.

The official International Women's Day website says: "Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination. A world that's diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge gender equality. Collectively for #IWD2025 we can all #AccelerateAction."

In the video above, Chloe, Kaylee, Charlie, Paige and Jayden spoke to LTFC+ about their journeys through football, and Luton Town HR director Jenn Smith said: "For years, we’ve marked this day with food, cakes, and gestures of appreciation.

"But let’s be honest, no meal or cupcake has ever closed the gender pay gap or created equal opportunities, or made sure that women have a welcome seat at the table.

"This year, I want to shift the focus. Instead of a celebration, we’re committing to acceleration, and taking real action to ensure that the women at our Club, and those that aspire to be part of it, feel welcome, valued, and empowered to thrive.

"Equality isn’t a one-day event. It’s the policies we create, the biases we challenge, and the culture we build, every single day.

"This International Women’s Day, let’s do more than acknowledge the issue and focus on real change."
