Glen Rea joins Wigan on loan

Midfielder Glen Rea has joined Sky Bet League One promotion chasers Wigan Athletic on loan until the end of the season.

The 27-year-old first arrived at Kenilworth Road in March 2016 on loan from hometown side Brighton & Hove Albion, where he come through the ranks under manager Nathan Jones, before making his move permanent a few months later.

Since then, Glen played a major role in Town’s successive promotions from League Two to the Championship, playing every match in the fourth tier before injury halfway through the following season ended his League One title-winning campaign early.

He returned from that year-long lay-off to help the Town preserve their Championship status in 2019-20, and was a mainstay of the side last season, making 40 appearances and scoring three times.

Glen, who has made over 200 appearances for the club, will now aim to add another promotion to his CV as Wigan bid for a return to the Championship.

Everyone at Kenilworth Road wishes him well during his time at the DW stadium.
