Ethan Horvath | "I couldn’t be prouder of how we performed"

Ethan Horvath described his 15th clean sheet of the season as “the cherry on top” of the win at Sheffield United that took the Hatters up to fourth place in the Sky Bet Championship table.

“It’s kind of the cherry on top to get the clean sheet, but the most important thing was to get the victory and I couldn’t be prouder of how we performed today,” said the 27-year-old goalkeeper.

“It would have been nice to get the second goal, but defensively we were brilliant, winning headers, cutting out cut-backs, defending the box really good and we know that’s one of the strengths of ours and that’s something we need to keep going with.

“We’ve ten games to go and it’s one of our strengths, so we need to keep it consistent and keep going.”

The USA international made a series of routine saves in the 1-0 victory at Bramall Lane, including a crucial late block at point-blank range to deny Blades skipper John Egan inside the six-yard box.

“Right place, right time,” said Horvath. “Not much to say other than I made my block, the ball hit me and I’m happy to have contributed to the victory. The defence, the midfield and the guys up top really worked hard today, so I’m very happy to have done my bit.”

The man on loan from Nottingham Forest is looking forward to two more big matches, at home to Bristol City on Wednesday night and then at Sunderland next Saturday, as the Hatters look to cement their position in the play-off spots before the international break.

He added: “Today was a massive result and I don’t think we can let it get to us on Wednesday night. We need to go out and do the same thing against Bristol and the same thing against Sunderland. Two big games coming up and yes, I think we are ready for them.”
