DONERVON DANIELS ON HIS LOAN RECALL AND HATTERS DEBUT

Donervon Daniels says the Town players have to “dust themselves down and go again” after suffering an FA Cup third round exit at Bournemouth last night.

The 26-year-old made his debut for the Hatters after being recalled early by Graeme Jones from his loan spell at Doncaster Rovers – where he made 10 appearances in League One.

After playing the full 90 minutes in the 4-0 defeat, Daniels - who signed on transfer deadline day in August and immediately went to the Keepmoat on loan - said: “I’m really happy to be here and happy to help the boys. I’ve come here to try and give my all, compete and obviously help push us up the table.”

It has been a busy couple of days for the defender as he came straight back into the fold for the FA Cup fixture, but it’s an opportunity he is relishing.

“I got the call and I’m happy to be on the pitch,” Daniels added. “Obviously it’s frustrating with the outcome and the result but I’m happy to be here, happy to be part of the fight.”

Having spent four months on loan at Doncaster, the defender commented further on his time with Rovers: “The plan was to go out, get games and build my fitness up, which I felt like I did. I enjoyed it at Doncaster, I didn’t really get the proper opportunity to say goodbye to them and I was really welcome there.

“The boys were lovely but I’m back now and I’m raring to go. I’m happy with the challenge that’s ahead of me and ahead of the boys and I just want to give my all.”

The former West Brom youngster played at right-back for the duration of the game at the Vitality Stadium, but he explained: “I’ll play anywhere the gaffer puts me. I just want to be on the pitch.

"I would say I’m a centre-half, I love it at centre-half because I get to see the game, I get to dictate with the boys around me. I’m a vocal player so I like to communicate but I’ve played right-back a few times throughout my career.

“Tonight I enjoyed it at right-back, it was a tough challenge against Premier League opposition and it was good to just be out there and be part of it with the boys, because even though it was a negative result, personally I think I did well and I enjoyed it.”

Daniels is fully focused on the fight ahead with 20 games remaining this season.

“The Championship is a step up. The boys did incredibly well last year and each game is its own individual game. I feel like we’ve just got to dust ourselves down and go again.

“Obviously we’ve got a big game coming up this weekend and we’ve just got to put this behind us and work hard in the week and looking forward to the game on Saturday, because we’ve got good players, good fan base and we just want to do each other proud.”
