After seeing their incredible streak of 16 successive league victories come to an end at the hands of a 1-0 defeat to Stevenage on Sunday, the Hatters mustn’t dwell on the result as they take on Watford Ladies in Berkhamsted on Wednesday evening.
The opposition
Watford Ladies’ form as of late has dragged them right into the mix of the relegation scrap.
They currently sit two points above the drop and must make their game in hand against Luton count. Bowers & Pitsea picked up their first three points since November on Sunday, which meant they leapfrogged the Hornets, who dropped to 10th place.
Watford have lost 11 of their 19 league games this campaign and have conceded 39 goals in the process.
They are in the worst form in the entire ERWFL Premier Division, losing five of their last six league games.
Last time out
It was Bedfordshire who toppled Hertfordshire when the two sides last faced off. The Hatters defeated the Hornets 3-1 at Barton to gain the all-important three points.
It was a lightning-quick start for the Town when Gabriella Spillman’s cross collided with the hand of a Watford defender inside the area and the referee pointed to the spot. Leyah Maddix converted to give Luton a lead after 90 seconds.
Tanya Blacksley’s bullet header doubled the Hatters’ lead in the fifth minute before the hosts pulled a goal back via a direct free-kick with 25 minutes on the clock.
Watford’s low-block kept Luton at bay until the 75th minute when a Fiona Buttigieg cross was turned into her own net by a Watford defender.
Back the Town in Berkhamsted
The Hatters need your support as they look to bounce back from a rare set back.
The derby will be played at Berkhamsted Football Club, with a 7.45pm kick-off.
A win for the Town would see them extend their lead to 4 points at the summit of the ERWFL Premier Division.
