Jordan Clark immediately turned his attention to the Good Friday trip to Derby as soon as Saturday’s 1-0 home defeat to Blackburn was over and done with.
The midfielder had hoped to end a week in which he had been nominated for both Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month and Goal of the Month awards on a real high, continuing the “feel-good factor around the club” created by a five-game unbeaten run.
Instead, Blackburn held on with ten-men to protect Yuki Oshahi’s goal from early in the second half, and take all three points back to Lancashire.
The result left the Hatters three points adrift of Derby, who sit one place above the relegation zone going into Friday’s clash at Pride Park, but Clark is looking forward to getting the momentum moving again.
Speaking to LTFC+ after the game, the 31-year-old said: “It’s disappointing today to lose because the games are running out and we know important every game is, especially when you’re in the bottom three.
“It’s disappointing because even a point, going into the Derby game, we beat them and then you probably jump put the relegation zone.
“We’ve got to reflect on it tonight, tomorrow and then come Monday, when we are back in, we’ll be analysing the game like we always do, where we need to improve.
“There’s been a real feel-good factor around the club, with the crowd and the fans, especially away from home, and we’ve just got to pick ourselves up and go again because Friday is a massive game now.
“It’ll be a great atmosphere and it’s one game we definitely need to win.”
