Celebratory weekend for Under-18s

The Hatters Under-18s enjoyed a fine weekend as they received their Youth Alliance winners’ medals prior to the first team’s match with Aston Villa a few hours after they secured their first victory in the Merit Division.

Alex Lawless’ side won the South East championship title and got off to a winning start in the Merit Division – which sees the top five clubs from the south east and south west divisions compete for the southern title – by beating Stevenage 2-1 at The Brache on Saturday morning.

Goals from and Jamie Odegah and Jack Lorentzen-Jones were enough to beat their Hertfordshire visitors.

The Town youngsters will aim to make it two wins from two in the Merit Division next weekend when they entertain Swindon at The Brache (10.30am ko). Lawless’ side will be out to avenge the FA Youth Cup defeat at the hands of the Robins earlier this season.

Town: Blackledge, Harvey, Benagr, Stitt, Emery, Trialist, Warren, Lorentzen-Jones, Odegah, Trailist, Takawira. Subs: Shepherd, Pipa, Hincapie-Alfonso, Chigdozie, Routh.
