Jacob Brown stressed the importance of getting three points at home to Cardiff after his goal proved the difference between the two sides in the midweek fixture at Kenilworth Road.
The Scotland international netted his second goal of the season, his first having come in the 3-0 derby win over Watford in October, with a thumping 57th-minute header from Alfie Doughty's left-wing corner to send the Kenny End into raptures.
Afterwards, the 26-year-old said: “It was a great feeling to get another goal and more importantly get the win. It probably wasn’t the best performance we’ve had recently, but to get the three points is the main thing.
“Shout out to Alfie for the great delivery as always, so it was good to get free in the box and get a connection on the cross."
On his celebration, Jacob added: “I haven’t watched it back and I guess it was a bit stiff, I’ve been watching a lot of NFL recently so I just thought I had to go with the griddy."
Looking ahead to Saturday's trip to Middlesbrough, he went on: “It’s really important going into the break, it’s a big game and hopefully we can build on the momentum with a positive result.
“It’s a long season and so we’ve just got to focus on each game as it comes and start moving up the table."
And with his injury problems now behind him after making only his second start of the season, Jacob added: “It was a nice feeling to start the game, after being out for so long I’m really grateful for every minute I get, so to start the game, get a goal and the three points, it was a good evening."
