Yesterday with the help of Mick Harford we presented lifelong Hatters supporter Roy Pollard with a signed home shirt at Kenilworth Road.

Roy was nominated as a Hatters Hero by his son Max for his selfless work during the current covid crisis.

Roy had retired two months before lockdown but shortly before lockdown went into effect he took a zero-hours contract at a funeral directors. As a 64 year old, Roy was given the chance to step down for his own health and safety during lockdown, but he felt strongly about continuing on in his role.

With families unable to attend funerals to help prevent the spread of Covid-19 during the lockdown, Roy wanted to keep working to give families of the deceased peace of mind that least one more person would be in attendance at the funeral of their loved ones. Roy wanted to be there to support those families where possible so he worked at funerals consistently throughout the peak and is still working now.

During his vistit to Kenilworth Road on Thursday, Roy walked down the tunnel, before being being taken out onto the pitch with his son Max and his daughter Louise - where they scanned the stands for their Hatters Home from Home plaques.

Luton Town Commercial Manager Chris Bell greeted the Pollard family, and surprised Roy with an appearance from Club Legend Mick Harford who presented the Hatters Hero with a signed shirt.

On behalf of Hatters everywehre, we would like to thank Roy for all his hard work during the Covid crisis - a true Hatters Hero. #COYH
