The Town Under-18s kept up their pursuit of the Youth Alliance title with a comfortable 3-1 win over Stevenage on Saturday morning.
After Tate Xavier-Jones saw a goal ruled out for offside in the eighth minute the striker set-up Benny Benagr to head the Hatters into the lead just two minutes later.
Joe Deeney’s side doubled their lead on 16 minutes from the penalty spot when Dylan Stitt sent the Stevenage goalkeeper the wrong way after Jamie Odegah was tripped in the box.
The Town spurned a number of good chances to extend their lead and it wasn’t until 20 minutes from time when the three points were wrapped up when Benagr hit his second of the game, finishing Kyron Roberts-Edema’s pass.
Matthew Takawira had a fourth goal ruled out for offside minutes later before an Archie Shepherd effort rattled the crossbar as the Hatters continued to press.
Stevenage scored a consolation in injury time but the Town were full value for another league win ahead of another meeting with Boro in the league on Tuesday at The Brache.
Congratulations, boys!
