Matt Bloomfield says the Town could be without Amari’i Bell and Isaiah Jones for Saturday’s trip to Hull after picking up knocks while on international duty this week.
Jones earned two caps for Guyana – type: entry-hyperlink id: 4eKp8KiSD6XcPsilZwT5ru – while Bell featured once for Jamaica.
However, the duo have returned to the UK with minor injuries and will be given as much time as possible to recover in time for the important Championship fixture against the Tigers.
“They’re both doubtful but we’ll give them as long as we can before making a decision on them,” Bloomfield said at his Friday press conference.
“It’s huge recognition for them to go off and represent their country and they’ve had good success over the break. Of course, you hope for the best but they’ve come back with knocks and we’ll give them enough time to recover but if not we’ll have the replacements ready to go.
“Izzy’s only arrived back in the country yesterday [Thursday] so he’s not had much time. He’ll travel, but this week we’ve prepared so we might need to be adaptable.
“It’s a shame as they’ve been doing great since we’ve gone to a back three. We’ve seen vintage Amari’i and Izzy’s been getting better and better.
“We’re hoping they’ll be fit and if they are they’ll play.”
The better news for the Town is that Tahith Chong is back in full training and is available selection, Teden Mengi has returned to training and Marvelous Nakamba and Shandon Baptiste are back on the grass in the early stages of the rehab.”
On the game itself, the manager is hoping the Town can build on the victory at Cardiff in their last game away from Kenilworth Road which ended a run of 15 games withouth success on their travels.
“We all want us to play open and attacking football but if we need to be solid away from home, that’s what we’ll do,” said Bloomfield.
“We need to continue to be organised, structured and disciplined and do the things we’re good at.
“We know we need to make the ground up. It’s a big game but we’ll be ready.”
