Centre-half Tom Holmes has agreed to join Belgian top-flight side FCV Dender EH on loan for the rest of the campaign.
Holmes joined the Hatters in last year’s January transfer window, signing from Reading for an undisclosed fee.
The 24-year-old defender returned to the Royals on loan for the remainder of last season before getting his chance for the Town this term.
He made his debut for the Hatters in the goalless draw at Portsmouth back in August, before he was given his first start for the club in the 3-0 win over Watford in October.
Holmes scored his first goal for the Town in the 2-1 win over Derby in December and has made 20 appearances in total this term.
He joins a Dender side who sit 11th after 24 matches in Belgium’s Pro League this season.
Manager Matt Bloomfield said: “There’s a lot of competition now at centre-half with Kal coming in, and I think Mads Andersen and Mark McGuinness have done well in the last couple of games.
“We hope to have Reece Burke fit and competing at some point as well, so we have a lot of options in that area.
“We need to register 25 players and we’ve got a big squad, so it’s about making sure that the numbers are right.
“Tom did really well in the first couple of games but found himself out of the team again, but this is a really exciting opportunity to go and play some football in Belgium and we all hope he does well out there.”
Good luck, Tom!
