Back at home with the Baggies

Our official preview for the visit of West Brom

kennnnnnyy

Luton Town are back under the Kenilworth Road lights as we host West Bromwich Albion on Friday night, live on Sky Sports in the UK.

Rob Edwards’ Hatters will look to get back to winning ways after losing both fixtures since the derby win against Watford.

Carlos Corberán’s Baggies have lost their winning touch in recent games after sitting high at the top of the Championship earlier in the season.

The opposition

West Bromwich Albion were at the summit of the Championship table a month ago before a barren run of six games without a win, leaving the Baggies eight points adrift of Sunderland.

Striker Josh Maja (pictured) scored a hat-trick on the opening day at QPR, but his sudden dry spell has coincided with this poor run of results for our visitors.

Despite four draws in a row, the Baggies defence has been resilient. Just two goals have been conceded by Corberán’s side in their last five games.

Team news

Tom Holmes (second yellow card) and Alfie Doughty (five yellow cards accumulated) will both serve their one-match suspension and are unavailable for this fixture.

Teden Mengi and Shandon Baptiste are the closest to a return and will be given as much time as possible to see if they are fit.

We are likely to be without Amari’i Bell, Reece Burke and Mads Andersen as the defensive trio continue to nurse themselves back to fitness.

Words from Rob

“I’ve got a brilliant team of people around me and everyone shares it and feels it. We all want the club to be doing really well, but at the moment we’re suffering a little bit.

“It’s not as easy as being able to flick a switch and turn things around, there’s lots of factors.

“What we do need to lean on is that there have been good performances, there was one only last week. That can give us confidence.

“When you’re around the place and out on the training pitch, it doesn’t feel like a group that’s struggling for confidence or belief.

“Knowing that does also give me the confidence and belief that we can turn the performances into wins and consistency as well.”
