Isaiah Jones fit after illness as Town face crucial Good Friday clash against the Rams

Manager Matt Bloomfield says the Town have no fresh injury worries ahead of the crucial Good Friday trip to Derby.

The Hatters head to Pride Park three points behind the Rams in the Championship table knowing victory would breathe new life into their survival hopes after last weekend’s defeat to Blackburn.

Bloomfield says that Isaiah Jones has recovered from illness that laid him low for two days prior to the Blackburn game and has trained all week.

Teden Mengi is once again in contention after his first appearance since the end of November following his cameo against Rovers, however, despite training this week, the game comes too soon for Shandon Baptiste.

Academy graduate Oli Lynch could also be in contention after he put pen to paper on a new deal following his recall from loan at Hemel Hempstead.

On the importance of Friday’s game, the manager said at his Thursday press conference: “It’s a big weekend and we understand the position and the importance of the game.

“We were bitterly disappointed with the result last weekend – looking back it wasn’t as bad as we first believed. Our overall play was good, we had chances from set pieces and hit the woodwork twice.

“But we’re rested and ready to go. Our results have been good away from home recently and we’ll try to replicate that.

“It’s a crucial game but we can’t be too anxious. We need to be calm, deliver, and find a way to win the game. We believe in ourselves to do that.

“Good Luton teams leave everything out on the pitch and that’s what we’ll be asking for.

“We’ll get up and get fighting – it’s the only way we’re going to get out the situation we’re in.

“Because if we win, we’re right in this.”
