Admiral Muskwe | "I'm always happy to contribute with a goal"

Forward Admiral Muskwe was relieved to be back in action yesterday after an injury lay-off that has forced him to miss the last six league matches.

With a goal on his return against Bournemouth U23s at Top Field, Muskwe is hoping that he will now be in contention for Saturday’s match versus Millwall as he continues to work his way back to full fitness.

“It was a good 60 minutes, good runaround, dust the cobwebs off a little bit, get some match minutes, build up my match fitness and that’s all I can really ask for in these games.

“As a forward you’re always looking to score every time you’re on the pitch, so I’m always happy to contribute with a goal.”

Going back to the moment where he suffered his injury that has kept him on the sideline for a month, the 23-year-old said:

“In the warm-up, the back end of the warm-up, I felt a little tweak, knew something wasn’t right, so I tried to test it out the last little parts of the warm-up and I knew playing would probably make it even worse.

"We made a decision to take me out of that game and I think maybe if I had played I would have been out a bit longer than I have been.

“Every player wants to play every game and then to pull out because of something physical is disappointing, but at the same time, it’s a long season, still loads of games to play, so I’m just looking to get myself back into contention and hopefully help the team pick up points and pick up wins.”

The former Wycombe Wanderers man has still been keeping a close eye on his teammates in training and in every match too.

“Every home game I’ve been to, but even the away games I’ve tried to find a stream to watch the matches, the video analysis, post games, pre games, always involved, so I’m always in and around everything that’s going on.

“Bristol City away, if you look at it from a statistical point of view, probably on another day we walk away with a three, four-one win, and then Coventry, five-nil win and they were flying at the time. A five-nil win at any level is a great achievement and I think there are a few games we’ve drawn where we could have won.

“Considering all the upsets we’ve had, being in mid-table is a good platform for us now and hopefully we can climb up the table."
