Thelo Aasgaard wants the Hatters to take the winning momentum into Saturday’s game with Coventry after back-to-back Easter victories – and thanked the fans for singing his name!
After scoring the opening goal in the 3-1 win over Bristol City with his first in a Town shirt at Kenilworth Road, Aasgaard then saw Carlton Morris and Izzy Jones add to the tally after George Tanner had briefly brough the Robins level.
“It was unbelievable,” the January signing from Wigan told LTFC+. “The character we showed, even when we conceded, was really good. The lads are buzzing – absolutely buzzing.
“We need to take that momentum on to Saturday. We are going to recover right and train hard, and we are really all looking forward to it already.”
While the 22-year-old’s goal was a beauty from outside the area, he found time to praise the grit and determination that was on display in Good Friday’s 1-0 win at Derby, which carried over into the Monay victory over a side in the play-off places.
“That’s the foundation to every great performance, winning second balls, doing the ugly side of the game and earning the space in front of the other team, and I think we really did that,” said the Norway international.
“We wanted to give the fans a performance to be proud of and I think we did that.”
On the goal, and his overall performance, he went on: “All the lads always tell me to shoot, so I had to curl it in that corner – and if you don’t shoot you don’t score!
“It’s just what comes with confidence in my style of player, I suppose. I try and bring the other lads into the game with little passes around the corner, and with our directness and determination today, I think we wanted it more and it showed.”
And in refence to his song, to the tune of the Oasis hit ‘She’s Electric’, he said: “It’s great. They still haven’t got my name right – it’s Tell-o! But, that’s not a problem.
“It’s unbelievable to have that chant, but the fans were right behind the boys today and long may it continue.”
