NOVEMBER

Momentum was building, but you might not have known it as we grabbed a somewhat fortuitous point at Rochdale, mainly thanks to the outstanding James Shea. Wycombe were dispatched in the first round of the FA Cup before Plymouth came to Town and they were simply torn apart in an outrageous performance in front of the Hatters faithful. Collo moving up to seven for the campaign as he baggeda hat-trick. Harry Cornick unleashed his inner Gareth Bale as we beat Gillingham 3-1 on their own patch, with Bradford seen off in similar style to the win over the Pilgrims to round off the month. We weren’t just winning, we were absolutely flying.

DECEMBER

The third round of the FA Cup was reached with a win over Bury, before victory over Fleetwood moved us into the automatic promotion spots for the first time this campaign. Maybe the coldest and most wet day ever in the history of football occurred when we headed to Coventry. Fortunately Matty Pearson and James Collins delivered as we continued our form. The following week saw us mark ten games unbeaten witha victory against Burton Albion, before a 2-0 win at Scunthorpe made it seven consecutive wins. We headed into our final game of 2018 brimming with confidence – but it was a shock to the system when we went 2-0 down at Walsall. Collins banged one in again, before Kazenga LuaLua netted his first league goal of the campaign in the last minute to secure a massive point. Although it might not have happened at all should Danny Hylton’s desperate bid to punch it over the line had succeeded!
