GOALKEEPING CRISIS COSTS HATTERS
Goalkeeping trouble saw Luton's Youth suffer a 4-2 defeat against Leyton Orient in their first game at the club's new training ground.
Ross Faulds played just 45 minutes before Youth boss Chris Cummins was forced to replace the ill keeper.
Under 16 goalkeeper Aaron Fletcher, who made his debut for the Under 18's in their first game of the season, was also sick. And so as a result, midfielder Mark Farthing had to put on the gloves in the second-half.
A strong start by the young Hatters was rewarded when Elliott Osborne-Ricketts latched on to a free-kick to score at the near post after 18 minutes.
Orient were swift to respond with a set piece of their own before taking the lead just before the break.
The Hatters quickly pulled themselves back level three minutes into the second-half when Ashley Harrison-Barker slotted home a shot from outside the area.
However it wasn't enough and the visitors took away all three points after putting another two goals past Farthing.
Chris Cummins said afterwards that he hoped to give more playing time
to the Under-16's:
"We played a few young lads against Orient and they did very well.
"This is all part of their learning curve and what I'm going to be looking to do now is get a few of the Under 16's in to see if they can cope with the full-time football."
Luton will play one more game before the New Year when they travel to Rushden and Diamonds this Saturday after the fixture had to be rearranged from its original date of December 8, which was postponed due to an outbreak of flu in the Rushden camp.
