Debut goals from Richard Owusu and Ashley Deeney helped Luton's Youth triumph over Brentford in the Puma Youth Alliance Cup last weekend.

After a goal less first half, new signing Owusu gave Luton the lead before Mark Farthing and Ashley Deeney, a member of Luton's Under-16 team, completed the impressive win. Brentford scored a late consolation, but it couldn't take the gloss off another impressive victory by Luton's youngsters - their third win on the spin.

And it was a performance that delighted youth boss Chris Cummins, who made alterations to his team just after half-time, switching from a 4-4-2 formation by pushing three men in attack.

"I brought on Jake Cowells and took off Dean Hamilton and we went to a4-3-3 and within a minute of making the change we scored the first goal."

Luton took the lead on 49 minutes when Owusu connected with an Elliott Osborne-Ricketts ball into the area.

Luton scored the second goal after 70minutes when Loren Maxwell took the ball down the right hand side before crossing it in for Ryan Charles to head on to Mark Farthing, who scored from six yards.

Ashley Deeney scored Luton's final goal after managing to get behind the fullback to receive a cross from Harry Hogarth.

Cummins was full of praise for the two Under-16 players: "Our lead gave me the chance to bring on a couple of the young lads so Adam Watkins came on and Ashley Deeney came on.

"They did really well and Ashley scored his first goal for the Under-18s."

Despite winning the game, Cummins was disappointed in his team's first half performance: "We didn't really do enough first half.

"I just felt we could up the tempo a little more, take a lot more care with our passing and show a little bit more desire and determination in the right areas."

But he praised Harry Hogarth and Riccardo Biggi after their strong performance in the second half.

"We continued to play very well second half and never looked in danger," said Cummins. "I thought the two centre-halves Harry and Ricky were very dominant again, very aggressive in the air and really stopped them creating any chances whatsoever."

The Hatters are hoping to extend their unbeaten run at the weekend having travelled to Barnet, and Hatters boss Chris Cummins will be looking for a strong performance from his side.

"We need to go there with the same frame of mind we go into every game, of playing our game and not worrying about the opposition and going out there to get a performance which will hopefully get us the result that we're looking for in the end."
