The Town's reserves' long wait without a victory finally came to an end following a 3-2 victory over Ipswich Town.
After eight successive defeats in the totesport.com Combination, last year's East Division champions secured their first points of the campaign with Mark Nwokeji's last minute winner.
The Hatters fielded a strong side including new signings Taiwo Atieno and Gavin Caines while the hosts included former England goalkeeper Richard Wright between the sticks.
Ryan Charles, returning after a long lay-off through injury, opened the scoring for the Town rounding off a flowing move involving Craig Nelthorpe and Nwokeji with a fine volley.
Ipswich equalised through Ronan Murray but the Hatters weren't level for long as Rossi Jarvis fired home from 20 yards after Wright had spilled the midfielder's original free-kick.
However the hosts rallied for a second time and found their second equaliser of the afternoon when Lee Martin scored from the penalty spot after he had been upended by Shane Gore in the 18-yard box.
Not to be denied, and with the Hatters playing some good attacking football, they got the winning goal their endeavour deserved when Nwokeji got ahead of his marker to head past Wright at the near-post following Adam Watkins' excellent right-wing cross.
And a delighted first team coach Kevin Watson was full of praise for the side as they registered their first points of the season.
"It's been a long time coming," he said. "But it was fully deserved. We were excellent.
"All three goals were taken exceptionally well and there were positives all over the pitch.
"The senior pros were superb throughout, Asa Hall and Rossi were solid in the centre of midfield and Matthew Barnes-Homer had a splendid game on the left-hand side of midfield.
"Ryan took his goal really well and looked sharp before we took him off while Gavin Caines looked comfortable in his first game for us at centre-half.
"I must reserve special praise for youngsters Alex Lacey and Ashley Deeney who both came on as substitutes.
"The application and attitude of all the players involved was spot-on and after a run of eight defeats we're pleased to have stopped the rot."
