First Team Coach Alan Neilson was absolutely delighted with the attitude and application shown by the eight senior players involved in the reserves' 4-0 win over Watford on Thursday that helped the club win the East Division of the totesport.com Combination.

"Today we put out a very strong side and all the senior players were absolutely magnificent," Neilson said.

"They were very professional and worked hard. Some of them are out of contract at the end of the season and worried about getting injured but the attitude was spot on."

Neilson feared his side were in for a tough afternoon against a Watford side completely made-up of players from their youth team, especially given the game the young Hornets had given them earlier in the season.

He said: "Some of the pace their lads possessed was frightening. I knew it wouldn't be an easy game.

"We played them at Borehamwood earlier in the season and they played a young side and they played really well and beat us that day."

However, Neilson was keen to point out the key roles that some of the young players from the Town's youth teams - who were not involved in Thursday's success - in the games building up to Watford victory.

He said: "Its harsh on some of the younger lads who did well in the games leading up to this one but that is part and parcel of football and the situation we found ourselves in needing to the win the game.

"The players from the Under 18s and even Under 16s squad have come in and done really well. They've been exceptional.

"They have come in and played alongside and against some senior pros over the last few months and acquitted themselves fantastically.

"Although we're all happy we've won the league today we're not forgetting the job the youngsters not involved today have done."
