RESERVES SMASH HORNETS TO WIN TITLE
A strong and experienced Hatters reserve side crushed an inexperienced Watford side to seal the totesport.com Combination East Division title at Kenilworth Road.
The visitors only needed a point to take the trophy to Vicarage Road but they had no answer to a Town side including eight players with appearances in the first team this season.
Two smashing first half goals in the space of 10 minutes from Sam Parkin and Rossi Jarvis put the Hatters in command before the break.
Parkin hooked a left-foot shot home from 25 yards on 32 minutes and 10 minutes later Jarvis rifled a volley past the Watford keeper to double the Town's advantage.
The young Hornets always struggled to make an impression against their more experienced counterparts and a further two goals in the second half from Ian Roper and Ryan Charles from the penalty spot sealed a comfortable victory.
Roper bundled home the ball from a corner five minutes into the second half and the victory was wrapped up a minute from time when Charles tucked his spot-kick away after the visitors captain Louis Lavers had handballed.
It meant First Team Coaches Kevin Watson and Alan Neilson ended the campaign in charge of the reserves with a 12-match unbeaten run.
