Two second half goals were enough to give Milton Keynes Dons victory over the Hatters second string at Kenilworth Road on Wednesday afternoon. A mistake by the Luton defence gave Milton Keynes Dons the lead in the 52nd minute before Harry Hogarth added to their tally with an unfortunate own goal on 79 minutes.

Luton started brightly and Richard Langley had the first real chance of the game when he finished an impressive run with a shot from outside the area that was pushed wide by keeper Kurt Fox on 34 minutes.

Two minutes later Daniel Delderfield tried his luck inside the box and was unlucky to see his attempt trickle wide.

Fox was called into action again in the 37th minute after trialist Geoffrey McGaw rounded the defenders before putting in a low cross.

The Dons had another opportunity on 38 minutes after a hand ball by Michael Synnott gave them a free kick just outside the box.

David King stepped up but only managed to push the ball wide of the post.

Once again Fox saved the day for the visitors by pushing an attempt from Mark Farthing wide in the 42nd minute.

Ashraf capitalised on an error by the Luton defence and that allowed him a route through on goal, Walker came out to try and prevent a goal but Ashraf chipped the ball over his head and into the empty net, giving the visitors the lead in the 52nd minute.

A well placed ball from Mark Farthing allowed Darren Currie to cross to McGaw who was unlucky not to score from the resulting header.

The Dons got their second on 79 minutes after an unlucky Hogarth passed the ball back to the keeper who failed to stop it going into the back of the net.

However, Walker was desperate to make up for his earlier mistake and pulled off a brilliant save three minutes later after captain Sam Collins took a free kick.
