Luton Reserves created plenty of chances but could not find the target and went down to a single goal just before half time at Sixfields.

The Hatters fielded a mixture of experience and youth, with Paul Peschisolido, Ahmet Brkovic, Jaroslaw Fojut and Lewis Emanuel all starting.

From the younger players, Ryan Charles and Elliott Osbourne-Ricketts - who made such a good impression when scoring on his Reserves debut at Kenilworth Road last week - also started.

The Hatters made chances in the first half with Stephen O'Leary seeing his volley well saved by Chris Dunn from a Ryan Charles cross.

Then the keeper had to make another fine save to palm away Ahmet Brkovic's fierce drive from 10 yards out.

And then he caught a volley from Elliott Osbourne-Ricketts, as the Hatters pressed but came away with nothing to show for it.

The only goal of the game came four minutes before half time when Alex Dyer charged down Dean Brill's attempted clearance and the ball hit him in the back and bounced into the net.

The second half was goalless so the Hatters were left to rue those near misses.
