The young winger, who can also play at left-back or central midfield, came through the ranks at Kenilworth Road and made his first team debut as a second half substitute in May 2008. He made his full debut in the Hatters colours away at Bradford City in October 2008.
After making 36 appearances for the Hatters in the 2008/09 he was rewarded for his efforts with a professional contract in May 2009.
In his first season as a pro, Howells made huge strides with impressive performances on the left-side of midfield, ending the 2009/10 campaign with six goals, including his first senior goal in the incredible 4-3 win over Cambridge in September.
Since emerging as a first team regular, Jake has gone from strength to strength, firstly earning a call-up to the England C squad before coming a Wales Under-21 international.
