Experienced striker Paul Peschisolido joined Luton on a one-year deal in July 2007, becoming manager Kevin Blackwell's sixth signing of the summer. Blackwell knows all about Peschisolido, who was at Sheffield United from 2001-04 when the Hatters boss was No 2 to Neil Warnock at Brammall Lane. The Canadian-born striker joined from Derby, where he played a big part in lifting the Rams into the Premiership, playing the first hour of the 1-0 Play-Off final victory over West Brom in May. Peschisolido is vastly experienced, with more than 500 appearances in English football, in a career spanning almost 15 years. He has scored 136 goals in that time. A flamboyant character, Paul is married to the glamorous Karren Brady, Managing Director at Birmingham City, where he made his debut in English football in 1992. After starting his career in the Canadian Soccer League with the Toronto Blizzards, Peschisolido joined Birmingham City, where he scored 16 league goals in 43 appearances. His form at St Andrews prompted Stoke City to pay £400,000 for him in 1994, and during his two seasons at the Staffordshire club he scored 19 times in 66 appearances. After a brief return to Birmingham, he then moved on to West Bromwich Albion. After 51 appearances and 21 goals for the Midlands club, he then dropped down a division to join Fulham in October 1997, for a £1.1 million transfer fee. At Craven Cottage, Peschisolido helped the club win promotion as Division Two champions during his first season as he scored 13 times during 37 appearances. In total, he made 117 appearances for the London club, scoring 30 goals. A succession of loan spells followed during his time at Fulham, as he enjoyed spells at QPR, Norwich and Sheffield United. He made a permanent move to Sheffield United in 2001 and was key player in the Blades reaching both domestic cup semi-finals and the Division One play-off final in 2003. During his time at Bramall Lane, Peschisolido made 97 appearances (56 from the bench) and scored 21 goals in all competitions. In March 2004, Peschisolido joined Derby County in a swap deal with Izale McLeod, who moved to United on-loan for the rest of the season. At Derby he proved to have a knack for scoring vital goals from the substitutes bench and during his time at Pride Park he made more than100 appearances, scoring 24 goals. His last competitive game for Derby was in the Championship play-off final where he helped Derby win promotion to the Premiership at the new Wembley Stadium against West Bromwich Albion.
