Hatters boss Richard Money has warned his players that they cannot afford to take their foot off the pedal in the quest for promotion.
The Town are looking for their fifth match in succession at Ebbsfleet United on Saturday which would put them on the coat-tails of Stevenage and Oxford above them in the BSP.
But the Hatters' chief is more concerned about keeping his side in the promotion Play-Off places after seeing a number of teams below them suffer a run of inconsistent results.
"We can't take our foot off the pedal," he told the media on Friday afternoon. "We have managed to put eight points between ourselves and sixth place but we have seen in recent weeks what can happen to other teams.
"York and Mansfield have dropped points and suffered and it's up to us to keep going, keep the momentum and do as much as we can.
"We can't afford to drop off after getting ourselves in a strong position and, if we keep going, who knows.
"But all we're worried about is ourselves. We're not bothered about the teams above us.
"If we keep the run going and put pressure on teams above us then so be it."
Four wins on the spin have put the Town in touching distance of the top two, even if they do have games in.
However, a three-match winning sequence in the league in January was ended by Saturday's opponents Ebbsfleet and Money has told his side in no uncertain terms what he expects at Stonebridge Road.
"They know," he said. "They know what I want. I told them this morning.
"It is a crucial game at a crucial time for us.
"The players were told before the Kidderminster game that we wanted two big performances from them.
"We've got one of the way and as long as we play well at Ebbsfleet we're confident we can get three points."
Liam Daish's Fleet won 3-2 at Kenilworth Road on 30th January when the Town boss admitted afterwards he had never felt so low after a defeat.
While he didn't want to dwell on that set-back too much, he recognised the threat that the Kent side pose despite their lowly position in the table.
"I don't want to talk about that game," he said. "We shot ourselves in the foot that day. Ok, so Liam Hatch had a goal ruled out - if that goes in it would have drawn 3-3 - but on Saturday we must make sure we play much better.
"They have a very useful front three. We have warned the players of that again. They have good pace and movement and we need to be aware of that threat."
On the injury from Adam Newton trained on Friday and could be involved after recovering from a hamstring injury but the same cannot be said of striker Liam Hatch who is still unavailable with the same injury and has been laid low with flu.
Illness has also affected Craig Nelthorpe, Mark Nwokeji and George Beavan, with the latter two training on Friday.
